8.45am and the first 'open' Field of Glory competition begins. Originally it was a beta test tournament, but the rules sneaked out just in time. Although with Amazon failing to deliver on time, many didn't have a set of rules! Those that paid top dollar now having the last laugh!
Badcon has been traditionally a themed tournament, with this year being its DBM Bk IV (Medieval). With this in mind, and with 'Storm of Arrows' being one of the release titles it seemed that FoG should also follow suit.
So, only armies permitted were those included in Storm of Arrows.

List of competitors and armies
To the left Terry Shaw and Glenn Harrison set up against their first round opponents, Andrew Ellis and Alan Proctor. Danish versus the Germans - maybe Ditchmarshen refought!? Ending up a 22 - 11 victory to the Danes.

As the games started everything was going smoothly. Most folks were quite familiar with the rules. So, it was looking to be a quite weekend as an umpire.
The only ruling question resulting from the fact that the diagrams are now available. However, for the diagrams to make any sense you need to hold them the right way up Dave!
Front table.
Ian Speed and Sylvie Mills (Medieval German) versus Bob Amey and John Skelton (Medieval German). The result 7-13 to Amey and Skelton.
Rear table.
Dave Ruddock and Tony Robinson (Scots Common) versus Nik Gaukroger (Later Anglo Irish). The result 12-8 to Ruddock and Robinson. You can see Dave demonstrating early stages of 'Norman back'

Bruce Brown and Darren Roberts (Ordonnance French) versus Lynda Fairhurst and Bod Medcraft (Low Countries). 14-11 to the French.
Below. Richard Bodley Scott and Damien Ranansinghe (Wars of the Roses - Yorkist Pretender) versus James Hamilton and Martin Wilkinson (Medieval Danish). Resulting in a 10-10 stalemate

With 2 out of three authors in attendance, it seemed we would be well equipped to answer any rule queries.
